Old characters feel a little disconnected from the original series, and most of the new characters are left unexplored.
Perhaps the most disappointing part about this book is the lack of quality in the plot itself. Most of the plot twists were so absurd, they leave the reader saying “Seriously?!!” more than a few times.
Overall, it was a good read that Harry Potter fans won’t regret. However, it won’t live up to the expectations, because the quality is a bit lacking when compared to the original series. And yes, it does feel like they’re just trying to squeeze [more] money out of the franchise.
I believe Draco Malfoy summed up the reading experience quite masterfully when he said:
Face it — his celebrity impacts you all. And how better to get everyone whispering the Potter name again than with ‘my scar is hurting, my scar is hurting.’
