May was a reading slump, partly because some of the books I read last month were not great. Regardless, I managed to read 3 books in May, one was a reread, one tiny non-fiction, and one classic fiction.

Apr 2023 Books
April was not a great reading month for me, partly because it was Ramadan and partly because the books were a bit disappointing and threw me into a bit of a slump. Nevertheless, I read four books in April, one poetry, one comic, one classic fiction, and one Arabic Fiction.
Mar 2023 Books
March was a fantastic reading month for me, I managed to finish 10 books. I read 3 classic fiction books, 2 Arabic fiction books, 2 graphic novels, 1 modern fiction book, 1 massive poetry collection, and 1 tiny non-fiction book. Of those books, I reread 2 of them: رجال في الشمس and Animal Farm. I also discovered a new favorite book: We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, who has become one of my all-time favorite authors.
Feb 2023 Books
I’ve done it again! Cannot believe how I managed to read another 7 books in February.
Jan 2023 Books
2023 is looking good so far, reading-wise. I’ve somehow managed to read 7 books in January, which feels like my normal reading rate from three years ago. Without any furth ado, here are the books I read in January.
2021 & 2022 Books
Happy New Year everyone! I am aware that I have been neglecting this little corner of the internet for a while now, and I decided it’s high time I start giving it some attention. It’s been a very difficult couple of years for a lot of reasons, but anyhow. I decided to wrap up the last two years of books in one post. Yay!
In 2021 I read a total of 14 books, and in 2022 I read 26 books. Below are short reviews of all the books I read in the last two years.
Jul 2020 Books
July was a good reading month for me. I managed to finish 6 books in July, which is great. It has taken me quite a while to get to writing these reviews, so I’ll just jump straight into them.
Jun 2020 Books
June was yet another slow reading month. I only managed to finish 3 books in June, but, again, quantity should not be the goal of reading. The times we’re living in are still very strange where anxiety is still very prevalent, so it’s only natural not to be on top of your reading goals.
May 2020 Books
Although I’ve been self-isolating since late March, I haven’t been reading as much as I thought I would. It’s probably due to the sheer anxiety and emotional rollercoaster we’ve all been feeling since all this started.
But, for me at least, my main goal each year is to read at least a book each week. And in May I have exceeded that goal. I don’t think that putting too much pressure on the amount is helpful right now. Quality and variety are what I look for in my reading, and thankfully that has been achieved in May. I’ve read a total of 6 books in May, however, I’ll only discuss 5 in this post.
Welcome to the (new) Haneen Reads
I’ve been updating this site for a few years now, but I realized I wasn’t getting much out of it, it was just another copy of my GoodReads profile. So, I decided to turn into a proper blog. A proper reading blog, where I share more meaningful content about the books I read, the books I want to read, book recommendation lists, and much more.
